The Town has extended the State of Emergency until Saturday, March 10, 2018.
Approximately 60% of our residents remain without power. NYSEG crews are finally in Town and working feverously.
The emergency shelter at the Heritage Hills Activity Center will remain open. 28 people stayed there last night. If needed, we will open our secondary shelter at the Somers Middle School. Again, if you need a ride to the shelter call 914-277-3651.The shelter director, Dave Jacobsen, has reported he is in need of volunteers. If you are interested contact him directly at 914-224-3358. The shelter is a critical facility and we are in dire need to keep it operational.
All traffic signals in the Town have traffic cones to control traffic, are on generators, or are functioning.
Dry ice and water distribution will continue today at the Somers Intermediate School until 7:00PM tonight.
Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the area. With the current Storm Warning in effect we are cautioning residents with portable generator to check operating directions as these generators should not be used in inclement weather without the proper coverings.
