A totally volunteer agency, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the Town of Somers for over 75 years and protects approximately 19,000 citizens living in a 33 square mile response area.
The SVFD provides fire protection, emergency medical services, accident victim extrication, hazardous materials response, scuba-water rescue and fire prevention education to the citizens of our town. We also provide mutual aid response to our surrounding communities. The department provides protection 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We answer around 1,300 ambulance alarms and 500 fire and rescue alarms, totaling about 1,800 calls a year.
