Units, 1 Utility Vehicle, 1 Water Rescue Vehicle, 3 Ambulances, 1 BLS
"Fly Car" and 3 Command Vehicles (operated by the Chiefs).
A new Pumper and Rescue Truck are expected within a year.
Help is needed! Please volunteer!
You may join for fire and EMS or EMS only. Anyone may join if 16 years and over. We will provide all the needed training. Please call (914) 248-5604 for information.
The membership committee meets the first Monday after the first Tuesday of the month, 7:30 p.m. at Somers Fire House, Route 202, Somers.
The Town together with the Somers Fire District, Northern Westchester Hospital Center and 8 surrounding municipalities and their Fire and Ambulance Districts has instituted a program of Advanced Life Support (ALS) service. This service provides an enhancement to the Basic Life Support (BLS) service already provided by the Somers Fire District.
The ALS service provides for 4 day and 3 night “Fly” cars equipped with paramedics and the equipment they need to deliver advanced medical care. It is called a “Fly” car because it speeds to the scene of an emergency. The system is designed so that each “Fly” car generally covers a specific geographical area. When that car is in use, the other cars reposition themselves to cover the area. This system makes Somers a safer place to live and work.
In order to allow our 911 number system to operate more effectively, it is imperative that each residence and building in Somers be clearly posted with the appropriate house number. Indeed, the Somers Zoning Code requires that 3-inch numbers be mounted to the building or in front of the building near the main entryway. If you are in doubt of your house number, please call the Assessor’s office between 9:00am and 4:30pm at 277-3504, Monday through Friday.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in helping us serve you.
