A totally volunteer agency, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department has been serving the Town of Somers for over 85 years and protects approximately over 20,000 citizens living in a 33 square mile response area.
The SVFD provides fire protection, emergency medical services, accident victim extrication, hazardous materials response and fire prevention education to the citizens of our town. We also provide mutual aid response to our surrounding communities. The department provides protection 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We answer around 1,300 ambulance alarms and 500 fire and rescue alarms, totaling about 1,800 calls a year.
