Full payment is due by 4/30/2020

Please note: The law under which our Town & County property tax bill falls is New York State’s Real Property Tax Law (RPTL) which means the deadlines and penalties associated to this Town & County Tax Bill cannot be changed by our office or your local Town Board. At this time the State has not allowed fora change to the deadline so this bill is due by 4/30/2020.


Mailing your payment is best. Please make sure it is postmarked by 4/30/20.
Many banks offer online bill pay. You can pay your taxes this way by initiating the bank to mail a check in for your taxes. Just make sure it is made out to Michele McKearney, Receiver of Taxes, include your bill number and address in the memo portion of the check and mail in time to be received by 4/30/20.

Meals on Wheels will remain open during the coronavirus emergency. As of Monday, March 16, all programs including balance and strength exercise, Yoga,Line dance, Ballroom, Bridge, Mahjong, Canasta, Art, shopping and congregate lunch will be cancelled until further notice. We will reach out seniors during this period to provide updates. We will honor medical appointments scheduled prior to today.

All new exemption and exemption renewal applications are due by May 1.  All Enhanced STAR renewals are now handled by NY State Taxation & Finance --call them at (518) 457-2036. For all new exemptions and any required renewals,especially the Senior Citizen Exemption renewal, the Assessor’s Office would prefer you e-mail the completed exemption forms and required documents to tstegner@somersny.com, or mail to: Assessor; Town of Somers, 335 Route 202; Somers, NY 10589.  Upon receipt, you will receive an e-mail reply or a stamped receipt in the mail.  For questions please call and leave a message.  We will return your call as soon as possible.

Please access all environmental forms, requests for wetland and steep slope permits, pool permits, tree removal permits, subdivision and site plan applications, lot line changes on line and call the office if you have any questions or problems accessing files.  Submit all completed applications and checks (made payable to Town of Somers) by regular mail because money cannot be received electronically, Planning & Engineering, Town of Somers, 335 Route 202; Somers, NY 10589.  Call with any questions rather than coming into the office.

The facility is closed to the public until further notice.  Library programs will be cancelled until further notice. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, if you are overdue on Library materials, we will work with you to forgive any overdue fines. The Library's book drop will be closed during this time.  Please do not return any materials or leave any donations at the Library.  Items will not be due during this time, and all fines will be forgiven.

Until further notice, the Building Department will be accepting complete applications via mail. We advise that you contact our office to confirm what documents must accompany your application. Please include contact information with your submission so that we can call with any questions regarding your application. Somers Justice Court

Due to ongoing concerns regarding spread and transmission of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Westchester County The Somers Justice Court is closed to the Public and the COURT SESSIONS previously scheduled have been adjourned as follows: 

All matters previously scheduled for March 23, 2020 have been calendared for May 4, 2020.  

All matters previously scheduled for March 30, 2020 have been calendared for May 11, 2020. 

All Vehicle and Traffic matters previously scheduled for April 1, 2020 have been calendared for June 3, 2020. 

Please continue to mail your pleas of guilty or not-guilty on Vehicle and Traffic Tickets to the Somers Justice Court via U. S. Postal mail. 

If you have received an Appearance/Pre-Trial Conference or Trial notice re: a TRAFFIC MATTER from the Somers Justice Court directing you to appear at the Courthouse on any of the above-referenced dates, you will be notified of your future adjournment date via US Postal Mail. 

If you have a matter on the TOWN ORDINANCE/BUILDING CODE calendar, you will be similarly notified by mail as to your next appearance date. 

Finally, if you are a party to a civil matter, including Small Claims, Summary/Special Proceeding(Landlord-Tenant/Non-Payment/Holdover/Eviction) or Justice Court proceeding,you will be notified by mail as to your next appearance date 

THE COURT will be in session to address any arraignments,Orders of Protection and any other emergent matters that may arise.
