Thank you to the Wittmann family for their generosity in funding the Old Bet Sculpture for the Town of Somers, in memory of Joseph v. B. & Barbara S. Wittman. It was sculpted by Luigi Badia. The Wittmann’s were staunch history advocates, members of Somers Historical Society and descendants of the van Cortlandt and van Rensselaer families, original Dutch settlers of Northern Westchester County, NY. Mr. Wittman’s grandmother, Margaret Van Rensselaer Voislawsky, was a founding member of Somers Historical Society in 1956.
