Westchester County Executive, Robert P. Astorino has announced the establishment of a Veterans Discount Program in Westchester County.  The Find and Assist Veterans of Record (FAVOR) Program is designed to acknowledge gratitude to the 80,000 veterans that live in Westchester County while helping local businesses cultivate customer loyalty and increase their visibility. The program presently exists in neighboring counties.

Westchester County is home to 80,000 brave men and women who have honorably served our country in the Armed Forces. Their commitment to upholding and defending the principles our nation is founded upon deserves the highest degree of respect and gratitude. In so many ways, we owe them a debt we can never repay. That is why I am asking the county’s business community to join me and the Westchester County Veterans Services Agency in giving something back to those who have given us so much.

This Veteran’s Day the Westchester County Veterans Services Agency will be launching the Find and Assist Veterans of Record (or “FAVOR”) Program. FAVOR is a discount program for eligible individuals who have been honorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces. Similarly successful programs of this kind already exist in our neighboring Hudson Valley counties. Upon presenting a FAVOR card at places of business in your community, veterans will receive a discount on purchases or services that each business provides. The nature of the discount that individual businesses are willing to provide is at their discretion, but their participation would be a wonderful way to indicate strong support for our veterans.

Involvement by local business in the FAVOR program is not just a symbolically significant gesture, but also can help them to cultivate the personal relationships with their local customers that are vitally important in making small businesses thrive and grow. Participating merchant’s names, addresses and discount specifics will be listed on our website. Moreover, that same information will be in a pamphlet to be distributed annually to Westchester’s returning veterans.

We have enclosed a FAVOR Discount Program Merchant Application Form and hope that you will consider distributing this form among businesses in your area and encourage them to participate. Please join us in demonstrating our sincere appreciation and support for the efforts of those who kept us safe and fought for our freedom.
